Support Services
Admin and Translation Services
Many people who come to FEE don't speak English as their first language. There is a lot of paperwork to navigate and our main job is to assist people with translating and interpreting documents, so they can access the help they require. We don't handle asylum applications directly; that's the job of a solicitor. However, in the past decade, we've helped 375 individuals with their administrative and interpreting needs, related to their asylum processes.
- Leave to Remain and Biometric Residence Permits (BRP)
- Visa applications and travel documents
- HMRC benefits advice and Universal Credit claims
- Acquiring a National Insurance Number
- Windrush compensation applications
These services are open to anyone that needs support in the Derby area and are mostly free to access. There is a £82 charge for travel documents, but this is significantly less expensive than using a solicitor.
If you would like to access these services, please book an appointment on the We Are Digital website or pop along to the centre and someone will be able to assist you in making an appointment.

Food Bank
Since 2019, we've assisted 750 people through our Food-Share project. Our volunteers gather surplus food from local supermarkets, sort it at our centre and create food parcels. Every week, we support 150 asylum seekers, refugees and local disadvantaged people, who collect the food parcels from FEE. Our volunteers also deliver food to those with mobility issues and the elderly, reaching out to underserved communities. Many of our Food Bank volunteers are refugees and asylum seekers themselves, who find a strong sense of community and purpose in helping others. We also have a Clothing Bank which opens at the centre on a Wednesday. If you'd like to join as a volunteer, or require our food or clothing services, please pop along and see us at the centre.
